I saw Professor Carmichael after finding a lump. I was extremely anxious when I saw her due to my sister and nan both passing away from Breast Cancer. Professor Carmichael was very caring and reassuring and I am so grateful. She really listened to my concerns and answered all my questions. She was absolutely amazing and I can not thank her enough. Mrs Carmichael is straightforward, calm, compassionate and really knows how to take care of patients. She is a credit to Burton Breast Care Unit and along with the rest of her team I cannot thank them enough for the care they have given me during my breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

I can't rate Professor Carmichael or her team highly enough. Not only did she agree to see me when her list was completely full. She was extremely friendly, approachable & understanding. My concerns were dealt with promptly & professionally & lucky with a fantastic outcome. You couldn't ask for any more from a consultant & I wouldn't hesitate in recommending her.

Following a routine breast screening in January 2018 I was referred to Burton Breast Care Unit for further investigations. From the moment I walked through the door I was greeted by a lovely receptionist. I was then taken into a room by a nurse and everything was explained to me of what might be in my breast. The ultrasound and biopsy were carried out by a very caring gentleman and nurse supporting him. I received a further appointment to see Mrs Carmichael two weeks later for my results. Mrs Carmichael broke the news to me and my husband that I had stage 3 breast cancer she was very to the point but extremely warm and caring, she gave me the options open to me gave me time to think about treatment but also gave me a date when she was able to carry out the surgery quickly. I had complete confidence in her. My surgery was carried out in the treatment centre with a one night stay. The admission staff, theatre staff, anaesthetist, Mrs Carmichael and her team and the ward staff I cannot thank enough for making my experience comfortable pain free and extremely caring. The centre was spotlessly clean. This service is a credit to out NHS.
